Cinnamomum Zeylanicum is a small evergreen tree belonging to the family Lauraceae, native to Sri Lanka. Its inner bark is dried and rolled into quills and is called as cinnamon. Cinnamon is a sweet smelling rich tasting spice which is also used as a condiment for sweet foods like sauces and preserves. Medicinally it holds an important place in Ayurveda and is used in formulations for stomach ailments and general wellbeing.
